National Organic Awards 2018

The Irish National Organic Awards, held every two years, are organised by Bord Bia in association with The Department of Agriculture Food and the Marine in order to champion and promote the Irish organic food sector and to reward the achievements of Irish organic food and drink growers and manufacturers.

The focus of the National Organic awards and the categories we have developed use criteria which reflect the range of organic available in different sales channels and potential for domestic and export growth.

Key Dates

  •   15th August: Applications are now open (Download Application Form Here)  
  •   3rd September: Deadline for applications. 
  •   7th – 11th September:  Delivery of products for judging 
  •   12th September: Judging Day
  •   20th & 21st September: Photography of shortlisted entrants
  •   10th October: Award Ceremony & Brunch (Bord Bia)

Award Categories 2018

To emphasise our focus on sustainability and the contribution of organic producers within their local communities, we have introduced a new award for Business in the Community (corporate and social responsibility) this year.

  1. Chef’s Choice Award
  2. Retail Award
  3. Direct Selling Award
  4. Export Award
  5. Best New and Innovative product Award
  6. Business in the Community Award (CSR)

Winners will receive a tailored support package to the value of approximately €12,000 to assist in growing their businesses, a logo which can be used for the packaging of winning products and an Irish hand-sculpted trophy. In addition, winners will be assigned a mentor to aid in the tailoring of suitable supports such as developing communication and PR plans and assessing market opportunities.

All shortlisted companies in each category as well as subsequent winners will be promoted by Bord Bia in print, broadcast and online media.

There is no charge to enter the awards.

The deadline for receipt of entry forms is 3rd September 2018 and products must then be delivered to Bord Bia offices for judging no later than 2pm on the 11th September.

Products will be judged by an independent panel of judges incorporating key Irish and overseas experts.
