Farmhouse Cheese & Craft Beer Weekend 2011
During the October Bank Holiday Weekend, Bord Bia wanted to raise awareness of the breadth of Irish farmhouse cheeses and craft beers amongst consumers by initiating the Farmhouse Cheese and Craft Beer Weekend. This was in an effort to prove that craft beer (not just wine!) is an excellent accompaniment to cheese. There were over 30 activities that tool place in restaurants, gastropubs, off-licences and markets across the country involving tastings, pairings and demonstrations. At present, there are approximately 50 farmhouse cheese makers in Ireland producing over 140 varieties of cheese and 17 craft brewers.
